Mooseman is a horror mod for Fabric and Forge that adds one relentless forest predator, a towering gaunt creature that hunts players across the map.

What it does

The creature spawns rarely, mostly in forest and taiga biomes. It stalks from a distance and stares before it vanishes, and players usually hear ragged breathing and deep roars long before they see it. Look directly at it, and a line-of-sight check that reaches up to 100 blocks away freezes it for about three seconds while it stares back. Once its scent is picked up, breaking away is nearly impossible, and a hunt only ends when the creature is dead.

The creature ignores walls, opens doors, and carves a tunnel through the canopy when a route is blocked. Its pathfinding plans a way over cliffs and past structures and landforms, and it teleports past anything it cannot path around. It only loses the trail once the player is roughly 120 blocks away. Mooseman requires Fabric API and runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Fabric and Forge across 17 release versions, 1.16.5 – 26.2, under All rights reserved.

    A stinger plays as the heartbeat rises, and the creature blinks out of view and reappears behind the player in a full sprint, one time per hunt.
