Moonstone Meteorites
Moonstone Meteorites places meteorite craters across the overworld, each with its own handcrafted building, decorations and a loot chest.
What it does
Craters are built from vanilla blocks and fill the terrain with a set of 28 distinct meteorite structures. Each one carries its own handcrafted buildings and decorations, and a location story that a player can piece together while exploring. Loot tables attached to the craters reward players who search them out.
Encounters are deliberately rare: craters appear roughly 900 blocks apart on average, so finding one still feels like an event. Moonstone Meteorites needs Fabric API to run and is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. Only the server requires the mod, so players can join a server that runs it without installing anything, although the client can add it too. Files cover 1.21 – 1.21.11 under a custom license, and the code is not open source.
Key features
Vanilla-block craters

28 meteorite structures
The mod includes 28 unique crater designs, each with its own buildings and decorative details.
Location story
Each crater has a small narrative built into its layout, which players read by exploring the site.

Use cases
Exploration in survival worlds
Players travelling far from spawn can come across craters on their route and treat each one as a destination.
Adventure maps
Map makers can place the rare craters along a route, using their stories and loot as the reward for finishing a stage.
Who it’s for: Players who want more to find on the overworld and server owners looking for exploration content that does not add new items to the economy. The mod is most useful alongside a world that is already being explored.

What the author says
On Planet Minecraft, you can find builds and maps that are far too large to be included in a datapack or mod. If that sounds like your kind of content, feel free to check them out as well.
