Modify Player Data

by eclipseisoffline

With Modify Player Data, server owners can set hidden player fields such as rotation, fall distance and invulnerability through Minecraft's data commands.

FabricNeoForgeServer-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.20.1 – 26.3

What it does

The mod lets the vanilla data commands, including /data and /execute store, write to player data. Fields that the game does not expose through normal play, such as Rotation, fall distance, Invulnerable, PortalCooldown, TicksFrozen and HasVisualFire, can be read and changed this way. Silent is implemented but has little visible effect because of limits in the vanilla client.

Only the server needs the mod, and players connect without installing it. Modify Player Data is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and is open source, with public links to its source code and issue tracker. It is published for Fabric and NeoForge across 21 release versions, 1.20.1 – 26.3, with snapshot builds also published. Fabric builds do not depend on the Fabric API, and a separate NeoForge line starts at 26.1.

Some tags are left out on purpose. Those that need another command, such as /ride, /waypoint or /xp, are handled by those commands instead. Others are not supported because the author sees no use for them, or because the vanilla client cannot display them.

Key features

  1. Rotation control

The Rotation field of a player can be set with data commands, changing the direction the player faces.

  2. Fall distance editing

The stored fall distance can be changed, which affects how much damage a later landing deals.

  3. Invulnerability flag

The Invulnerable tag can be switched through data commands, so a player takes no damage.

  4. Frozen and fire tags

TicksFrozen and HasVisualFire can be written, letting an administrator freeze a player or show them on fire.

  5. Portal cooldown

The PortalCooldown value can be set, controlling how long before a player can use a portal again.

Use cases

Scripted events

Map makers can freeze or ignite players at chosen moments in adventure maps driven by command blocks.

Server administration

Operators can correct a stuck player state, such as an unwanted fall distance, without restarting the world.

Who it’s for: The mod suits server owners and map makers who already use data commands and want to change fields the game does not expose through normal play. Players on the server need nothing installed.

Which versions have NeoForge files?

NeoForge builds start at 26.1, with the latest file 0.4.3-26.3 for 26.3.
