Modern KeyBinding is a library that brings key modifier and key conflict context support, first added in newer versions, back to Fabric and early Forge builds.

What it does

The mod ports the KeyModifier and KeyConflictContext classes from a newer release to Fabric and early Forge. Keybindings can use those modifiers and conflict contexts without a newer game version. It is a client-side only library, so servers do not need it and players install it alone. Builds exist for Fabric and Forge across 9 release versions, 1.7.10 – 1.20.4, and the code is licensed as All rights reserved. Keyboard Wizard: Legacy requires it.

Key features

  1. Alt and C activation

    A binding is activated when the Alt and C keys are pressed together, using the ported modifier logic.

  2. GUI-only context

    The key conflict context restricts the binding so it only applies while a GUI screen is open.

  3. Modifier support

    KeyModifier handling from newer versions is available on older Fabric and Forge builds.

What the author says

The mod ported the newer version's KeyModifier && KeyConflictContext back to Fabric & Early Forge. The mod will crash with NEI. Use NEI Unofficial(Dependencies: CodeChickenCore | CodeChickenLib) by GTNH instead.
