Modern Beta Forge Release Plus adds biome generators for older Beta and Release terrain to Minecraft 1.12.2 on Forge, and it needs the Modern Beta Forge add-on.
What it does
Once installed, the world type list gains presets that generate a new world with the terrain of earlier Beta and Release builds. Biomes in these worlds use their 1.12.2 equivalents, including height variation and surface values, so the terrain shape differs from the original builds. Generator options can also be set by hand through the in-game GUI or in the server.properties file.
Modern Beta Forge Release Plus requires Modern Beta Forge. The add-on is open source under the MIT License and has files for 1.12.2 only, with 1.10.0.1 as the latest Forge file. Both sides need the mod, so a server and every player run it, and the code and issue tracker are public.

Recreating older terrain
Players who want worlds with the terrain of earlier builds can generate them on a 1.12.2 server or in single player.
Server-side world setup
Server owners can set the level type and generator options in server.properties to make new worlds use these generators.
