Mob Factions
Mob Factions gives mobs group membership, so each entity can be set to attack, ignore or defend against other factions in a world.
What it does
Each faction is a group of entities with a name and a UUID, and the rules between factions decide who attacks whom. Entity types and individual entities can be placed into a faction, and each faction can be marked as an enemy, an ally or a target of attacks. The four default factions, Zombie, Skeleton and Illager, are created when a world is first loaded, and further factions are added through the in-game editor or the saved world file.
Targeting is set per world, so the same entity type can behave differently across saves. Entities in the same faction never attack each other, and entities in an allied faction are left alone. The mod works with the vanilla targeting system, including mobs that use the brain-based AI, and the author lists the affected entities on the wiki. Mob Factions runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later and is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 7 release versions, 1.20.1 – 1.21.11.
Key features
Faction-based targeting
Entities choose targets by faction membership, so mobs fight the groups they are set against and leave allies alone.
Entity type and UUID assignment
Whole entity types or single entities can be assigned to a faction, with an attack-on-sight or no-attack relation to each other faction.
Editable faction data
Factions are stored in the world save and can be changed in-game or by editing the NBT file directly.
Brain-based mob support
Mobs that use the brain AI system are covered, including Piglin Brutes, so faction rules apply to them as well.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
