Create: Missions

by Kryeit

Create: Missions gives server owners a currency system built on Create machinery, with daily and weekly missions that pay out in configurable rewards.

What it does

The mod is a Create addon for servers that run Create, and it can also be used in singleplayer worlds. Its purpose is an economy that lasts through a server's lifetime, with players earning a currency by completing missions and then spending it through exchanges they build themselves, such as shop contraptions and exchange banks. Required dependencies are Create and Create Fabric.

There are 16 mission types that use Create mechanics, including cut, compact, sail, craft, ride, harvester, crush, drill, mill, minecart and fly, along with several train-related and belt-related missions. Missions are defined in config\missions\missions.json, where each entry sets its target and reward, and rewards can be a count of an item. The currencies and their exchange rates are chosen in config\missions\currency.json, with Create: Numismatics given as an example setup.

The Mechanical Exchanger has no crafting recipe. It is obtained only from hard missions, with a 5% default chance after completion. It converts a smaller currency into a bigger one, and its direction depends on the rotation of the shaft it is attached to. It needs 100 rpm and consumes considerably more stress units than most Create machines. The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source.

Key features

  1. Daily and weekly missions

Missions refresh on a schedule and pay players in a currency defined by the server owner.

  2. Sixteen Create mission types

Each mission type ties a task to a Create mechanic, such as pressing, mixing, milling or riding a train.

  3. Configurable rewards

Reward items, ranges of amounts and titles are set in the mission configuration, with weights controlling how often a mission is picked.

  4. Physical currency exchange

A Mechanical Exchanger converts one currency into another when driven by a shaft at the required speed.

Use cases

Server economies

Server owners give players a currency that keeps its value over time and can be spent on items they build into shops.

Player-built exchanges

Players construct shop contraptions and exchange banks, so trade happens through Create machinery rather than commands.

Who it’s for: Server owners who run Create and want an economy built into gameplay, and players on those servers who take part in missions and trade.

Questions

Does Create: Missions need Create Fabric on Fabric?

Yes. Create and Create Fabric are both required dependencies, so both must be installed alongside Create: Missions.

Does the server need Create: Missions installed?

Either side can run the mod, and neither needs it. Missions are configured on the server through config\missions\missions.json.

How is the Mechanical Exchanger obtained?

It has no crafting recipe. It can only drop with a 5% default chance after a hard mission is completed.

What the author says

Create: Missions is a Create addon focused for Create mod servers. It will also work in singleplayers worlds, but it's designed to bring an economy throughout a server's lifetime. We hope to give server owners a better way of giving players a currency, while also encouraging players to build their own shop…
