Minihex

by IridescentVoid

Minihex adds minigame-oriented spells to Hex Casting, letting a caster give themselves personal modifiers that change their own play for a round.

What it does

Minihex is a Hex Casting addon for Fabric on Minecraft 1.20.1, and it needs Cardinal Components API, Fabric API, Fabric Language Kotlin and Hex Casting to run. Its spells center on self-applied effects: the caster can impose debuffs that only affect themselves, such as blindness with a controllable distance, disabled sprinting, disabled jumping, reduced maximum health, and disabled natural or food-based regeneration. Spell damage can be applied to the caster in a way similar to overcasting. These modifiers persist until the player relogs or a Clear Modifiers pattern is cast, and active modifiers can be read by hovering over their icon in the inventory.

Other spells change what a player sees and where a player can go. A caster can hide certain entity types, with the list capped at 128 entries, and tweak how nametags render so they appear only with direct line of sight. Entities can also be given a glowing effect on the client with a configurable color, capped at 128 as well. Personal modifiers are managed through commands, and a player's collision with other players can be disabled. The mod is designed for use with MoreIotas, Hexpose, Hexical, Xaero's Minimap and Xaero's World Map, and it can read the casting environment and interoperate with Hierophantics.

A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. The mod is released under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license and is not open source. Its public source code and issue tracker are linked from the listing. Minihex has a single Fabric file, version 1.0.0 for 1.20.1, published on 2026-04-04.

Questions

Does Minihex need Hex Casting to run?

Yes. Hex Casting is a required dependency, along with Cardinal Components API, Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin. All four must be installed on Fabric for 1.20.1.

Do the personal modifiers stay after a player leaves the server?

They persist until the player relogs or a Clear Modifiers pattern is used. Active modifiers can be checked by hovering over their icon in the inventory.

Which optional mods work well with Minihex?

The recommended optional mods are MoreIotas, Hexpose, Hexical, Xaero's Minimap and Xaero's World Map. The entity radar and map options depend on Xaero's mods being installed.
