MI Tweaks

by Swedz

MI Tweaks changes how Modern Industrialization machines pick their speed, energy use and multiblock display, and it needs Modern Industrialization and Tesseract API.

NeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.4 – 1.21.1

What it does

Machine efficiency is set by an option instead of the default behavior. One setting makes machines always run at the base EU recipe, another makes them always run at max efficiency, and a third sets a constant speed based on the voltage the machine receives. Upgrades provided by the hull can still apply in each mode, and a redstone control module can lock a crafting machine's efficiency.

The mod also adjusts how information appears. Current energy consumption can be shown in the energy bar tooltip, the efficiency bar can be hidden in machine screens, and the voltage a machine runs at can be displayed in its UI. Machine blueprints let players view the shape of a multiblock, like a wrench does, and place its blocks from the inventory by right clicking the controller. Several blueprint options are set in the config.

MI Tweaks is aimed at modpack creators and addon developers who want Modern Industrialization to behave differently. Water pumps need an ocean or river biome. The mod runs on client and server, and it is released under the MIT License, so it is open source. Files target NeoForge 1.20.4 – 1.21.1, and the latest file is for 1.21.1.

Key features

  1. Efficiency modes

Machines can run at base EU, at max efficiency, or at a constant speed set by their input voltage.

  2. Redstone efficiency lock

A redstone control module locks the efficiency of crafting machines so their output stays fixed.

  3. Energy tooltip

The energy bar tooltip shows current energy consumption, and the efficiency bar can be hidden in machine UIs.

  4. Multiblock blueprints

Blueprints display multiblock shapes and place the required blocks from the inventory when used on a controller.

Use cases

Modpack tuning

Pack creators can choose one efficiency mode for all machines and hide displays they do not want players to see.

Addon development

Addon developers can add the voltage condition to their own recipes so the machine voltage display is shown.

Who it’s for: Modpack creators and addon developers who build on Modern Industrialization and want to change how its machines run and display their state.

Questions

Which dependencies does MI Tweaks need?

Modern Industrialization and Tesseract API are required. Both must be installed alongside MI Tweaks on NeoForge.

Does MI Tweaks need to be installed on the server?

Every player and the server need a copy of the mod.

How does the flux transformer recipe accept cables?

One recipe uses the c:fe cables tag, and a second recipe uses a Redstone Battery placed in the machine, so any cable on the FE Cables tag works.

What the author says

For any questions, please ask in the #mi-tweaks channel on my discord. Note that there are 2 separate recipes for the Flux Transformer. One is the standard recipe that uses a FE Cable (#c:fe_cables) (recipe id is mi_tweaks:flux_transformer), and the other uses the Redstone Battery from MI in its place when no items…
