Medieval Glass

by elwood612

Medieval Glass replaces the flat look of stained glass panes with leaded glass panes modeled on real-world patterns, altered to fit Minecraft's aesthetic.

What it does

The mod adds leaded glass panes to the game. Most of them show connected behavior, so adjacent panes join into a continuous leaded surface, and identical panes placed near each other connect as well. The panes use the same textures as the vanilla stained glass they replace, so they sit naturally in existing builds.

Connected behavior needs a third-party connected textures mod. Either Optifine or Continuity or Fusion must be installed next to Medieval Glass, otherwise the connected panes will not work. Medieval Glass is published for Fabric and NeoForge and runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license and is not open source, though the source code is public.

Files cover 1.21.2 – 26.3, across 15 release versions, with 1.1.3 for 26.3 as the latest file for both loaders. The author has said that older versions would need a custom connected textures method, and that the mod is not planned for them.

Key features

  1. Leaded glass panes

Panes modeled on real-world leaded glass patterns, adjusted so they match the blocky style of Minecraft.

  2. Connected panes

Adjacent panes join into continuous leaded sections, and identical panes placed near each other link together.

  3. Vanilla stained glass textures

The panes reuse the textures of vanilla stained glass, so they work as direct replacements in existing builds.

  4. Real-world reference

The author drew the designs from several real leaded glass examples, and they are set out in the source material.

What the author says

Rather than replace Minecraft's glass, this mod adds additional so-called "leaded glass panes" to the game. Craft them in all the dye-able colors, and check out the special vertical patterns too. As a bonus, there are also wood-framed glass panes for more rustic builds. Most of them exhibit "connected" behavior…
