Backpacks
by lullaby
Backpacks gives players a portable container that carries extra storage in the inventory, and server owners can add it to a world without any player-side install.
What it does
A backpack holds items outside the normal inventory grid and is used by putting stacks into its first slots. Its contents move with the player, so a stored stack stays with the backpack wherever it is carried.
The server must run the mod, while players may add it but do not have to. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with builds covering 1.21.2 – 26.3 and the latest file at 1.2.0+mod for 26.3. The code is released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later and is open source.
Key features
Simple backpacks
Backpacks are plain storage items with a fixed set of slots, kept simple so they add little overhead to play.
First-slot storage
Items placed into a backpack fill its first inventory slots, so stacking and retrieval stay predictable.
Performance focus
Backpack logic runs once per tick with a command, keeping the work light on the server.
