Limitless Chat
by Murzik344
Limitless Chat lifts the 256-character cap on chat and command input, so longer messages and pasted commands are no longer cut off.
What it does
The mod removes the hardcoded 256-character limit on chat input. Players can type or paste messages and commands up to 32,500 characters, which covers long NBT commands, detailed lore text and server announcements. The 32,500 figure sits below the 32,767-byte ceiling of the networking layer, which leaves room for packet framing and JSON formatting. Only the input box cap and large-text transport change; chat rendering, tabs and styling are left as they are, so other chat mods keep working alongside it.
Limitless Chat is available for Fabric and Forge, for 1.20.1 only, with the latest files 1.1.0 published on 2026-10-04. Either side can run it, and neither needs it. Its only required dependency is Cloth Config API, which supplies the in-game settings screen. The code is MIT licensed, but the project is not open source. The mod was first published on 2026-06-08. Development focuses on 1.20.1 and newer versions, and backports to older releases are considered only if demand justifies them.
