Limited Lives caps the number of lives each player gets in a world, so a death costs a heart until the lives run out.

What it does

Each world is given a set number of lives, and a player who dies loses half a heart of permanent health, so later deaths leave fewer hearts to work with. Once the lives are gone, the config decides what happens next, including a forced move to Spectator mode. The lives and the timing of respawns can be adjusted in the config, which server owners can set for multiplayer play. Players check remaining lives with the ll limitedlives command in chat. The mod requires Fabric API and iChunUtil, and it runs on the client and the server, so both sides need it.

This mod limits you to a set number of lives per world. By default, when you die, you will lose half a heart of your permanent health, leaving you less and less hearts/HP after every respawn.
