LCull
by Starlev
LCull is a Client-side only culling mod that stops the renderer from drawing entities that sit outside the view frustum, for players in entity-heavy scenes.
What it does
LCull asks the frustum whether each entity's axis-aligned bounding box lies inside the visible volume. Entities whose whole box falls outside are skipped during rendering, so they never reach a draw call. Each frame, the culling test reuses the view volume that the game has already computed for the active camera, applying the same six-plane check the renderer runs on chunks in a branchless form that settles the per-corner sign choices a single time per frame rather than once for every entity.
The mod is aimed at scenes with thousands of entities on screen at once, such as RPG-modded servers, minigame hubs and CounterMine maps, where display entities can add a real frame-rate cost. Its author describes the work as a narrow, focused follow-up to Sodium's entity culling, which covers block entities. LCull is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with files for 1.19.2 – 26.3 across 16 release versions. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and the source code and issue tracker are public.
Key features
Off-screen entity culling
Entities outside the camera's view volume are removed from the render loop before they are drawn.
Per-frame frustum setup
The frustum choices are made once per frame and reused for every entity, rather than recomputed for each one.
Bounding box test
Each entity's axis-aligned bounding box is checked against the six planes of the visible volume.
Focused scope
The mod handles entity rendering only and leaves block entities to Sodium's existing culling.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who run entity-heavy scenes and want to skip drawing entities outside the view. Low-entity worlds gain little, and the author notes that results can flicker, with some side effects and a higher CPU load.
