Lazuli is a personal library mod for NeoForge, built to make modding a little less tedious through shared helper code.

NeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21 – 1.21.1

What it does

Lazuli collects foundational helper code written for the author's own mods. Its block base class, AbstractBlockWithEntity, gives a block a block entity with less setup. Energy, inventory and fluid block entities have their own helper classes, including IEnergyBE, AbstractEnergyBE, AbstractCapacitorBE, AbstractGeneratorBE, IInventoryBE, AbstractInventoryBE, IFluidBE and AbstractSingleTankBE. Zoned block entities are covered by IZonedBE, a piece ripped from Minefactorial.

The library also holds client-side pieces: particle helpers and a two-dimensional particle engine for GUIs, named IParticleEngine2D and ScreenParticleEngine2D. The author describes it as a personal library that became a shared base, and the helpers are meant for use in other mods that depend on it.

Lazuli is published for 1.21 – 1.21.1 on NeoForge only, with the latest file 0.1.1+1.21.1 for 1.21.1. Installation covers the server and each player's game. The code is released under the MIT License and is open source.

Key features

  1. Block entity base class

AbstractBlockWithEntity gives a block its block entity, so mods can skip the usual boilerplate.

  2. Energy block helpers

Interfaces and abstract classes cover energy storage, capacitors and generators inside block entities.

  3. Inventory and fluid helpers

Classes for inventories and single fluid tanks provide ready structure for item and fluid handling.

  4. Zoned block entities

IZonedBE handles block entities split into zones, a pattern taken from Minefactorial.

  5. 2D particle engine

IParticleEngine2D and ScreenParticleEngine2D let a GUI draw and animate particles.

What the author says

Lazuli is a personal library mod made to make modding a little less tedious. This library is the culmination of all the foundational and API code that I wrote for my mods. I started to dislike having to rewrite it all every time, so I decided that it's time to make Yet Another Library Mod.
