Kielson's API

by Kielson

Kielson's API is a Fabric library of shared code that Kielson's mods build on, so one copy of common logic serves several projects.

FabricClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21 – 26.2

What it does

Kielson's API groups code that Kielson's mods use in common. Instead of copying the same classes into each project, the author keeps them here, and maintaining one project replaces maintaining three. Updating a shared function means editing a single place, which speeds up releases for every mod that depends on it.

The library adds entity attributes meant for custom item and entity work, along with helper classes and methods that shorten the code needed to build some items. It also provides events that let other mods hook into common game moments. Mods built on it can share these pieces, which helps with compatibility between them. Fabric API is required, and the code is open source under the MIT License. Files target 1.21 – 26.2 and run on client and server.

Key features

  1. Shared common code

A single set of classes that Kielson's mods reuse, kept in one project rather than copied into each one.

  2. Entity attributes

Attributes supplied for custom items and entities, so mods built on the library can define them without writing their own.

  3. Item creation helpers

Custom classes and methods that reduce the code required to create certain items.

  4. Helper events

Events that other mods can listen to, so common behavior can be added with less setup.

Use cases

Maintaining several mods

A developer who publishes multiple mods can keep shared functionality in this library and update it once for all of them.

Who it’s for: Mod developers who build Fabric mods on top of Kielson's shared code, and players who run those mods in a shared client and server setup.

What the author says

Upon updating some functionality Kielson's API makes it easier by having that piece of code in one place instead of having a copy of it in every project. This means having to update one project, instead of three. This saves time and makes process of updating much easier.
