Wilderness
by ketok
Forests in Minecraft gain new wilder variants, with taller oak trees, moss-covered groves and fallen trees, once Wilderness is installed on Fabric, Forge or NeoForge for 1.20.1.
What it does
Wilderness changes the vanilla forest biomes rather than adding new ones, aiming to increase variety in the places players already explore. Old growth forests appear as a variant, and a rare forest type grows tall oak trees overgrown with moss. Mixed forests combine oak and spruce trees, which usually generate between taigas and forests, and fallen trees lie across the ground in several of these biomes.
Architectury API, Fabric API and TerraBlender are required dependencies, and Fabric API is needed on Fabric only. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. The code is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker. The first file was published on 2024-02-19, the last update was on 2024-04-17, and builds exist for 1.20.1 alone.
Fabric has 0.1.2 for 1.20.1, dated 2024-04-09, and Forge and NeoForge each have 0.2.0 for 1.20.1, dated 2024-04-17. All of these files are marked as alpha builds.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want more variety in forest biomes without new biomes being added to the world. Because the mod alters vanilla forests, it suits existing worlds that already use those biomes.
