Kambrik is a Kotlin library mod that gives other mod developers helpers for registration, commands, networking, text and NBT conversion.
What it does
The library covers registration of items, blocks and enchantments with less boilerplate, a command DSL for building simple commands, and a Message API that sends data over the network and back. It also provides extension methods for reusable functionality and a Text builder DSL for composing styled text. Kambrik is a library rather than a gameplay mod, so players see its effects only through the mods that build on it.
Object conversion to and from NBT through Kotlinx Serialization is marked experimental, and experimental library features move into kambrikx until they mature. A GUI drawing DSL is listed among the upcoming features. Kambrik runs on client and server, so both sides need it. It is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 21 release versions, 1.17 – 26.1.2, and is released under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, which makes it open source.
Kotlin for Forge is required on the Forge build. Bountiful requires Kambrik, so the library must be present wherever that mod runs. Snapshot builds are also published, and the latest Fabric and NeoForge betas are dated 2026-04-13.
