Jumbo Furnace

by Commoble

Jumbo Furnace is a Forge and NeoForge technology mod in which 27 furnace blocks arranged as a 3x3x3 cube smelt several items in one pass.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1

What it does

A jumbo furnace is assembled from 27 furnace blocks forming a cube three blocks on each edge, then shears turn the assembly into a single machine. Because the cube holds many furnaces, it can process multiple items at once where a single furnace handles one stack at a time.

Hoppers and other item handlers can feed the jumbo furnace. Its faces are sorted by role: the top faces accept input, the side faces accept fuel, and the bottom faces expose the output inventory. Recipes are defined in JSON with the jumbofurnace:jumbo_smelting recipe type, and the mod supports ingredients that have up to nine inputs, as well as standard Minecraft Forge ingredient types and those added by other mods.

The mod is client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is released under the MIT License and is open source. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge, and the latest file for both loaders is 4.0.0.5 for 1.20.1, dated 2023-08-06.

Key features

  1. Multiblock furnace

Twenty-seven furnace blocks in a 3x3x3 cube form one machine that smelts several items in a single operation.

  2. Face-based inventory access

Each side of the machine exposes a fixed inventory: input from the top, fuel from the sides and output from the bottom.

  3. Hopper compatibility

Hoppers and other item handlers can insert and extract items, so the furnace can be automated with conveyor setups.

  4. JSON smelting recipes

Custom recipes use the jumbofurnace:jumbo_smelting type, with up to nine ingredients and the standard Forge ingredient types.

Use cases

Automated smelting lines

Hoppers feeding each face of the cube let a single machine work through large batches without manual reloading.

Custom recipes for modpacks

Pack makers can define new jumbo smelting recipes in JSON, including ingredients added by other mods.

Who it’s for: Players who want to smelt larger batches than a single furnace allows, and modpack makers who add custom smelting recipes for 1.20.1.
