Item Merge Begone

by AshlynnMods

Item Merge Begone stops dropped item stacks from combining on the ground, so each drop stays a separate entity.

What it does

Normally, items dropped close together merge into one entity to reduce lag. This Fabric mod turns that merging off, so every dropped stack keeps its own entity on the server. Servers with large mob farms or quarries that create many drops may see added lag from this change, which the author warns about. Only the server needs the mod, and Fabric API must be installed alongside it. The code is under the MIT License and is open source. Files are published for 1.21.11 only, with the latest Fabric file 1.0.0 dated 2025-12-14.

Key features

  1. Separate dropped stacks

Each dropped item stays its own entity rather than merging with nearby drops of the same type.

  2. Loot piles stay visible

Dropped loot stays spread out as distinct piles, which some players prefer to a single merged stack.

  3. Performance trade-off

Keeping drops separate can add entity load, so the author advises against heavy mob farms on affected servers.
