Infected Flesh

by Hydoza

Infected Flesh is a Fabric utility mod that adds an item players can right-click onto a regular villager, changing it into a zombie variant.

FabricClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20 – 1.21.1

What it does

Infected Flesh adds a single item, the Infected Flesh, which is used on a regular villager to transform it into a zombie villager. The item is crafted from six Rotten Flesh, two Fermented Spider Eyes and one Poisonous Potato, so the transformation does not need a zombie to be present. The author notes that eating the item is not advisable.

The mod is published for Fabric only and needs Fabric API. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. Files target 1.20 – 1.21.1 across the 1.20, 1.20.1, 1.21 and 1.21.1 game versions. The source code and issue tracker are public, and the code is released under the MIT License, so the mod is open source.

Key features

  1. Villager transformation

Right-clicking a normal villager with the Infected Flesh turns it into a zombie villager.

  2. Crafted item

The Infected Flesh is crafted from Rotten Flesh, Fermented Spider Eyes and a Poisonous Potato.

  3. No zombie needed

The transformation works directly on a villager, so a zombie does not have to be found or spawned first.
