Impending Doom is a Forge alien invasion mod for 1.20.1 in which invaders attack the player's base in waves of varying sizes and types.

What it does

The mod sends alien invaders against the player's settlements, with enemies of many sizes and types that can destroy an unprepared base. Its enemy roster ranges from common aliens and elites up to a single boss, and it adds invader carriers, spawners, infection mechanics, army soldiers and invader structures.

Players are advised to stay alert, since invasions can arrive without warning and a base hit by explosions and infections can be left badly damaged. The mod suggests that players drift around the world to find and stop the invaders rather than waiting at a fixed spot. It needs Geckolib and Curios, and it is published for Forge only.

A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Files cover 1.20.1 alone, with 1.2 as the latest Forge build, released on 2025-12-23 after a first release on 2025-12-02. The code is not open source and is licensed as All rights reserved.

Use cases

Surviving on a single base

A player who settles in one place must prepare defences, since invasions can destroy it entirely.

Exploring the world

Drifting across the map lets players find invader structures and spawners before they reach the base.

Who it’s for: Players who want a survival challenge built around recurring alien attacks, and server owners running a Forge 1.20.1 world with the required dependencies installed.
