Immersive Tool & Armor Degradation
by The_Handyfon
Immersive Tool & Armor Degradation adds dirt, blood, rust and other grime to tools and armor, which change appearance as they wear.
What it does
Overlays are generated at runtime from noise and pixel hashing, so each stack picks up its own pattern. The mod tracks more than 15 substances, including dirt, sand, snow, ash, blood, slime, ink and rust, and it supports emissive fluids such as Glow Ink, Warden blood and Enderman blood. Resource packs are required for the textures to display.
Blood has gameplay effects. Heavily bloodied players rarely attract wolf packs at night, animals and villagers run from players covered in blood, and monsters smell them from further away. Players covered in Warden blood are avoided by most hostile mobs. The overlays work with other content out of the box, and the mod is procedural, so it needs no extra setup per item.
The mod is published for Fabric only, on 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source. Immersive Tool Aging, the aging system behind the overlays, aims for immersion and mechanical relevance with low friction.
