Ignited

by Sygikal

Ignited adds realistic fire mechanics to Minecraft, so flaming arrows, ignited creepers and flint and steel behave with fire that spreads and burns in new ways.

FabricServer required, client optionalAll rights reserved1.19 – 1.21.8

What it does

Ignited changes how fire works in the world. Flaming arrows can start a fire on the block they hit, and creepers that are ignited keep burning in a way that differs from vanilla. Shooting a bow while holding flint and steel in the offhand fires a lit arrow, which makes the mechanic usable in combat and while building.

The mod is a Fabric mod published across 16 release versions, and it is also offered as a data pack. Only the server needs it; players may join without installing it. Ignited is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved. Public issues go to the issue tracker.

Key features

  1. Realistic fire mechanics

Fire behaves more like a physical process, reacting to the blocks it reaches instead of following only the vanilla rules.

  2. Flaming arrows

Arrows that land on a block set that block alight, so a shot can start a fire at a distance.

  3. Ignited creepers

Creepers that catch fire stay ignited, adding a fire hazard to fights with them.

  4. Lit arrows from flint and steel

Holding flint and steel in the offhand while drawing a bow fires an arrow that is already lit.

Use cases

Fire-based combat

Players who fight with bows can use flaming and lit arrows to start fires on enemies and the ground around them.

Survival fire hazards

Fire spreading through wooden builds and grass makes fire a real threat that needs managing in survival worlds.

Who it’s for: Survival players and server owners who want fire to matter more than in vanilla Minecraft, and who run Fabric on a supported release.

How it compares

Full comparison

Explosive Arrows / TNT Arrows is a Fabric option for 1.19.4 – 1.21.10 that is server-side only and open source under the MIT License, so it adds explosive arrows rather than fire. Smooth Flint is a Fabric and NeoForge mod for 1.21 – 1.21.11 under the MIT License, and it needs the server while clients may skip it, which is a different fire approach from Ignited's realistic mechanics.
