Igneo's Combat Revamp

by igneo2201

Igneo's Combat Revamp replaces the vanilla enchantment system and the stat-based progression of Minecraft's combat, with a new way to obtain and apply enchantments on Forge 1.20.1.

What it does

The mod reworks how enchantments are obtained and applied. Instead of a chance-based experience cost at the enchantment table, enchantments have static costs, and players acquire the ones they want. Enchanted books can be placed in chiseled bookshelves to enchant items, and the enchantment table is reworked to match. Most vanilla enchantments are removed, with silk touch and riptide kept, and Efficiency is replaced by a Brute Touch enchantment at level 7 that does not drop blocks. Enchantments are compatible with modded enchantments, so other enchantment mods can add to the pool.

The combat side changes armor as well. Armor trims carry effects that stand in for some removed vanilla enchantments, and a config option can turn these effects off. Fire Aspect has less base damage. The author describes the aim as a combat system with more depth and a playstyle-based build choice, and the mod ships with a large share of artwork from contributors.

The mod requires ParCool! on Forge. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Files are published for Forge only, for 1.20.1, with 1.6.0 as the latest file from 2024-10-22. The license is All rights reserved, and the mod is not open source.

Key features

  1. Static enchantment costs

Enchantments have fixed costs and are acquired by the player, replacing random experience-based outcomes.

  2. Enchanting with books

Enchanted books placed in chiseled bookshelves apply their enchantments to items.

  3. Reworked enchantment table

The enchantment table is changed to fit the new acquisition and cost system.

  4. Armor trim effects

Armor trims grant effects that replace several vanilla enchantments, and a config setting disables them.

  5. Brute Touch

Efficiency is replaced by Brute Touch at level 7, which speeds up mining but does not drop the block.
