Ichthyology

by Ralof

Ichthyology adds a set of fish and other aquatic animals to Minecraft, with many of them placed in rivers, swamps, caves and other biomes.

What it does

The mod revamps the waters of the world with fish modeled on real-world species, styled to fit the vanilla game. Most of the new fish are ambient animals with distinct behaviors, ranging from a carp that begs for food to piranhas. Other additions include a way of stripping flesh off undead mobs.

Each species has its own biome and depth rules. African Cichlids appear in deserts and savannas, Blind Cave Tetras in overworld caves below Y-level 30, and Fiddler Crabs in mangrove swamps. Neon Tetras and Peacock Bass fill jungle and river water, and some species can only be obtained from Wandering Traders.

Ichthyology is published for Forge and NeoForge on 1.20.1 only. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Its license is All rights reserved, so the code is not open source, though its source code and issue tracker are public.

  4. Undead flesh stripping

Players can strip flesh from undead mobs, adding a new source of items from creatures found in the world.
