Hunger Attribute

by Masonhades

Hunger Attribute lets modpack creators and players change how quickly hunger depletes by adding a multiplier attribute to each player.

ForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1

What it does

The mod modifies the internal hunger exhaustion logic through Mixins and the Forge attribute APIs. The hunger rate can be raised or lowered with a multiplier, from values near 0.01x, which almost stops hunger loss, up to 100x, which drains food very fast. The attribute is applied to players automatically, including when it is changed through commands, datapacks or other mods.

Because the attribute is a standard value, it works alongside items and effects that modify attributes. Hunger Attribute is a lightweight, customizable option for pacing food in survival play or tuning a modpack. It is published for Forge only, for 1.20.1, and is open source under the MIT License. Both the server and every player need it, since the hunger rate is calculated on each side.

Key features

  1. Hunger rate multiplier

A new attribute sets a multiplier on food exhaustion, so hunger can be slowed or sped up for each player.

  2. Wide multiplier range

Values can be set from 0.01x, where hunger barely drops, up to 100x, where food runs out quickly.

  3. Attribute-based changes

Commands, datapacks and other mods can change the attribute, and the new value takes effect for the player.
