Horratic

by Mainsteam115

Horratic is a NeoForge 1.21.1 mod that tells its psychological horror story across eight stages of a deteriorating life.

What it does

Players move through eight stages in order: Denial, Intrusion, Descent, Defiance, Unraveling, Despair and Revelation, with two endings reached at the close. The story is built around emotions that people with depression, isolation or emotional withdrawal can recognize, and the author describes it as an allegory rather than a clinical portrayal. A journal writes itself as events unfold, and a book of letters that were started but never sent collects the character's unspoken thoughts.

Gameplay follows the fall apart theme. A Willpower meter tracks how the character is holding up, and it drops under pressure, hunger or time spent alone. Rest, light and food restore it. Permanent consequences and post-ending buffs carry over from one playthrough to the next, and many options can be adjusted. Horratic is not about casual jump scares, and the author notes that it deals with a serious topic, so it suits players who want emotional horror centered on real-world problems.

Installation covers the server and each player's game. It targets NeoForge only, with builds for 1.21.1, and the latest file is 1.8.2, published on 2026-07-30. Horratic is not open source and is released under All rights reserved.

What the author says

This mod is meant to be a standalone experience. Not recommended to add to horror modpacks. It is a story based on real life emotions people experience. This mod is not meant for the faint of heart. It speaks heavily on feelings of being deppressed. If you or a loved one are suffering please speak up. You are worth it!
