HiRes lets a player capture high-resolution screenshots of the game on the client, scaling the rendering framebuffer for each capture frame.

What it does

When a capture runs, HiRes temporarily enlarges the game's internal framebuffers by a chosen scale factor from 2x to 8x, then saves the result as a single image. Output can reach 7680 x 4320 (8K), 10240 x 5760 (10K) or 15360 x 8640 (16K), with the scale multiplier set to four times a 1080p, 1440p or 4K native monitor resolution.

HiRes is a client-side Fabric mod for Minecraft 26.2 and needs only the player's installation, since servers run without it. It depends on Reese's Sodium Options, which must be present on the same client. The MIT License covers the code, but the project is not open source.

    A toast in the top-right corner shows Screenshot Saved together with the file name once the image is written.

    The exact file name of each saved screenshot is also printed to the chat window, so it can be found later.

  5. Frame stacking

    Several frames are accumulated across time and combined with a channel-wise maximum blend, so moving celestial bodies leave trails of sun, moon and light points in the sky.
