Hide Tab
Hide Tab removes the player list from the TAB menu and blocks name suggestions in chat, so other online players stay out of view.
What it does
Holding the TAB key normally shows every online player. With the mod installed, the list no longer displays the other players, so a player cannot see who else is online. The chat autocomplete for player names is also switched off, which means typing the start of a name brings up no suggestions. Autocomplete for commands keeps working as usual.
The mod is aimed at server owners and at players who prefer to keep their own presence out of sight for a darker or more immersive play style. It is a client-side only mod, so it changes nothing on the server, and players join servers without needing it there. It is published for Fabric and Forge across 11 release versions, 1.19.2 – 1.21.8, and is released under the MIT License, though it is not open source. The code is kept light, with no measurable impact on performance or FPS.
