HeroBot

by herobane

Players who script bot opponents for a server can use HeroBot, a Fabric framework that runs fake players on the server side and adds settings for them.

What it does

HeroBot provides the bot players that datapack makers use to build fighting bots. Its bots track vanilla client behavior more closely than those of Carpet, and features such as Auto-Jump and the spear work on them. A required dependency is PvP BOT, which is named as requiring HeroBot. The /herobot command shows and changes its settings: running it without arguments prints the mod version, while a setting can be set for the current session or saved permanently to the config.

Several settings alter combat and world rules. Bots can appear in the multiplayer player list, their hits can be delayed by their ping, and they disconnect on death instead of respawning. Creative flight can phase through blocks in no clip mode. Shield disabling, projectile accuracy, explosion block damage, beds and respawn anchors starting fires, wind charges, experience pickup, shulker box drops and piston-moved rain are all adjustable. Two attack-related options are marked experimental.

Key features

  1. Server-side bot players

Offline players can be spawned on an online-mode server when no player with the given name exists.

  2. Bot ping and combat delay

A ping-to-tick rate sets knockback timing, and experimental options delay attacks and use actions by the bot's ping.

  3. Block damage control

A setting chooses between vanilla behavior, partial damage to blocks, or no block damage at all.

  4. Creative flight options

No clip mode lets flying creative players pass through blocks, and speed and air drag multipliers can be changed.

Questions

Does HeroBot need any other mod?

HeroBot is built on Fabric, so the Fabric loader must be present. Installing HeroBot alone is enough to run the framework.

Does HeroBot need to be installed on the client?

No. Only the server has to run it, while a client may add it without needing it.

Can the settings be saved between restarts?

Yes. The /herobot command can set a value permanently, which saves it to the config file.
