Health Tag
by DreykaOas
Health Tag shows a small nametag with the health of the living entity the player is looking at, within about 10 blocks.
What it does
The client-side interface appears in the top left of the screen and displays the name of the entity under the crosshair. Its health is shown as a bar with a precise numerical readout of current and maximum health, such as 20 / 20. The bar changes color as health falls, so a mob that is almost dead can be told apart from one still at full strength.
The tag updates in real time and needs no configuration to start working. Targeting follows the entity the player is directly looking at, so the display switches as the crosshair moves. The interface is meant to stay discreet and does not cover the central view.
Health Tag is licensed under the Apache License 2.0 and is open source, with a public source repository, issue tracker and wiki. Files are published for NeoForge only, for 1.20.4, 1.20.6, 1.21.1 and 1.21.4, with 2.0.0 for 1.21.4 as the latest file on the beta channel.
Key features
Entity health nametags
A nametag above the crosshair target shows the entity's name and health without opening any menu.
Dynamic health bar
The bar fills and empties with the entity's current health and shows exact current and maximum values.
Color-coded health
The outline of the health bar changes color as the entity's health drops, signalling how close it is to defeat.
Target detection
The display follows the entity the player is directly looking at, within a range of about 10 blocks.

Use cases
Checking a mob before a fight
A player can read the exact health of a mob before committing to an attack, which removes some of the guesswork.
Finishing off wounded entities
The color change and numerical readout make it clear when a hostile mob is nearly dead.
Who it’s for: Players who want to read entity health without guessing. The mod is a client-side addition, so a server does not need to install it for players to use it.
