Hands Off, Villagers!
by spekarchik
Hands Off, Villagers! is a server-side datapack that stops villagers, especially farmers, from picking up torchflower seeds and pitcher pods.
What it does
The datapack overrides the minecraft:villager_plantable_seeds item tag with a minimal seed list that leaves out torchflower seeds and pitcher pods, so only the remaining seeds stay available to villagers. Farmers can keep their torchflower seeds and pitcher pods for planting instead of hoarding them in inventory. The change affects only those two items and nothing else in the game.
The mod is installed on the server and needs no client-side part, so players join without installing anything. It is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 15 release versions, 1.21.2 – 26.3, and the latest files are 26.3-1.0.3 for 26.3, dated 2026-09-15. It is released under the MIT License and is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker.
If another datapack also edits the villager_plantable_seeds tag, the tag files must be merged by hand so both changes take effect. The mod is compatible with other mods from the same author. Source is available for anyone who wants to check the seed list or adapt it.
Key features
Seed exclusion
Torchflower seeds and pitcher pods are removed from the list of seeds villagers can pick up.
Minimal seed list
The overridden tag keeps the other plantable seeds, so villagers still gather the rest.
Server-side datapack
The change is a lightweight datapack that needs to be loaded only on the server.
Custom icon
The datapack includes its own icon, which appears in the datapack list.

How it compares
Dont Break crops that are not grown yet is a server-required mod with client-optional support, open source under the MIT License and published for 1.12.2 – 26.1.2 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge; it protects crops that have not grown yet. Portable Villager is a client and server mod for Fabric and NeoForge, open source under the MIT License and published for 1.21.11 – 26.3, so both sides must run it. Hands Off, Villagers! is server-side only and changes only the seed tag.

What the author says
Villagers are cute. But when they start looting rare seeds like they're running a black-market flower ring — it's time to say no. Tired of farmers hoarding torchflower seeds and pitcher pods they can't even replant? Hands Off, Villagers! is a lightweight datapack that enforces healthy boundaries in your village…
