Greeneries

by Player005

Greeneries adds grass and fern variants to the world, extending the flora that Minecraft already generates in the overworld.

FabricNeoForgeClient and serverCreative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.01.21.1 – 1.21.8

What it does

The mod introduces new grass and fern plants that sit alongside the vanilla ones, keeping their look and placement close to the original style. Among the additions are Red Fescue, Common Bent Grass, Blue Grass, Royal Fern and Eagle Fern, each in several sizes. The aim is to break up the uniform grassland that default terrain produces, adding depth and variety to landscapes without changing how the plants behave.

Many of the new plants follow the same growth and placement rules as vanilla grass and ferns, so they do not crowd out existing features. Each new plant is a regular item, which keeps the inventory tidy and the gameplay unchanged. Greeneries is published for Fabric and NeoForge across the 1.21.1 – 1.21.8 span, and it is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license, so it is not open source. Its source code and issue tracker are public.

Key features

  1. Grass variants

Red Fescue, Common Bent Grass and Blue Grass add new grass types that spawn in the wild.

  2. Fern variants

Royal Fern and Eagle Fern extend the fern family, with several sizes for each plant.

  3. Size variants

Grass and fern plants come in multiple sizes, so the ground does not repeat one shape.

  4. Vanilla-style growth

New plants follow the same growth and placement logic as the vanilla grass and ferns they resemble.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Players who want richer flora in newly generated terrain, and server owners who want the same vegetation for every player on a world. Because the mod is needed on both sides, a server and all of its players should install it together.
