Graduated Cylinders

by Bedrockbreaker

Graduated Cylinders adds a Forge tool for moving fluids by hand between tanks with finer control over the transfer amount.

ForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.7.10 – 1.12.2

What it does

Manual fluid handling becomes less tedious with a dedicated interface. Players set how much fluid moves, pick which fluid to transfer, and choose a direction from the screen, instead of relying on a single bucket click. The screen can be opened by crouching or sprinting, and an inventory button toggles it open and closed. Scroll wheel input adjusts the amount, and the tool can flip the default transfer direction.

The 3D scene in the interface can be rotated, and a right click on a side block selects it to interact with. Players can toggle rendering of neighboring blocks, so tanks packed close together stay readable. Selecting a previous fluid, clearing the amount text to zero, and shifting the text cursor are all supported from the keyboard and mouse. The mod also supports the Mekanism Gas API, so gases can be moved by hand without being voided by machines. Mekanism is optional, and the mod works without it.

Graduated Cylinders runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files exist for Forge only, for 1.7.10, 1.12 and 1.12.2. The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source, with public links to the source code and the issue tracker. The latest Forge file is 3.1.1 for 1.12.2, published on 2024-12-24.

Key features

  1. Fine transfer amount control

The transfer amount can be changed with the scroll wheel, typed in a text box, or set to zero by clearing the field.

  2. Fluid and side selection

Right clicking a fluid or a side block in the 3D scene selects it, and a click with drag sets the amount to the fluid volume.

  3. Scene view controls

The 3D scene rotates with mouse input, and neighboring block rendering can be turned on or off.

  4. Quick open and direction

Crouching, sprinting or the inventory button open the interface, and a setting flips the default transfer direction.
