Glow Goo
by CrossFace22
Glow Goo adds a throwable item that leaves invisible light sources where it lands, so a player can light up a room without placing torches.
What it does
Throwing Glow Goo creates an invisible light source at the point of impact. The goo sticks to floors, walls and ceilings, so a player can light spaces that torches cannot reach. Light strength is adjustable from level 1 to 15, and holding Shift while right-clicking lowers the level, letting a player tune the brightness to the area.
Placed goo is highlighted when it is nearby or held, which makes it easier to find and remove light sources that are otherwise invisible. The mod keeps the vanilla feel of the game and adds only this one mechanic, with no new dimensions, machines or progression systems. Glow Goo is published for Fabric and NeoForge, and the 1.0.0 files target 1.21.1 only.
Because the mod is client and server, the server and every player need it to see and use the goo. The code is not open source; the project is released under All rights reserved, though its source code and issue tracker are public.
Key features
Throwable glowing goo
The goo is thrown like a projectile and creates an invisible light source where it sticks.
Sticking to any surface
Goo attaches to floors, walls and ceilings, so light can be placed in spots where a torch would not fit.
Adjustable light level
Brightness runs from level 1 to 15, and Shift plus right-click lowers the level of an existing source.
Highlighting placed goo
Nearby placed goo, and goo held in the hand, is highlighted so light sources can be found and removed.

Use cases
Lighting enclosed spaces
Goo placed on ceilings and in corners lights rooms and caves without visible blocks in the way.
Keeping builds clean
Invisible light sources leave the look of a build unchanged, which suits decorative and showcase builds.
Who it’s for: Builders and survival players who want lighting without visible torches, and server owners who want a light mechanic that stays close to vanilla.
