by greyifer

G'Lib is a Fabric library mod for 1.21.1 that other G mods use for shared systems such as skins, HUD panels and configuration screens.

What it does

Developers building Fabric mods can draw on G'Lib for live skins, timed state shown on screen, and reusable editor parts, so each mod does not have to rebuild those systems.

Beneath the interface layer sit shared helpers for packets sent between server and client, event hooks, sound playback, player records, stand-in players and compatibility hooks for other mods. Its user interface layer includes configuration screens, editor layouts, model galleries, tutorials and scrolling menu regions.

G'Lib is published for Fabric only, with a single build, 0.1.0 for 1.21.1, on the beta channel. It runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it, and it is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. The source code is public.

Key features

  1. Player skin editing

Skins can be loaded, extracted into faces, edited region by region and painted with blending of individual pixels.

  2. Animated texture tracking

Animated textures can be tracked and edited, with an edit history that is synchronized between server and client.

  3. HUD and game state panels

Timers, animated list panels, cooldowns and broadcasts of shared configuration can be drawn on the HUD and kept in sync.

  4. Shared interface toolkit

Configuration screens, editor layouts, model galleries, tutorials and scrolling menu regions are provided as reusable parts.

Use cases

Skin tools for servers

A server mod that edits player skins can rely on G'Lib for loading, editing and synchronizing them across the server.

Custom HUD panels

A mod that shows timers or cooldowns can use the HUD panels rather than writing its own rendering code.

Who it’s for: Fabric mod developers and players who run G Mods on 1.21.1 will find the shared systems useful, especially where skins and multiplayer state must stay consistent.
