Genepool Party

by NeedToDev

Genepool Party lets each player pick one of four races, such as human, siren, pyrael or voltis, and each race carries its own buffs, drawbacks and abilities.

ForgeClient and serverApache License 2.01.20.1

What it does

Each race changes how a player moves, fights and survives. The default human receives a small buff and a small damage boost against other humans nearby. Sirens are tuned for water, moving faster while submerged and healing after taking damage, while land travel deals less damage. Pyraels can set nearby mobs on fire, and the fiery effect stacks on each hit. Voltis use an Aftershock ability that stuns enemies and slows them, and their critical hits with slow weapons such as axes can stun.

Abilities can be disabled by soaking in water, which also grants immunity to fire damage. Goat horns weaken nearby entities when used. Some races gain permanent Night Vision and immunity to Blindness, and fall damage is reduced to a quarter for air-based races. The mod runs on Forge for 1.20.1 and needs to be installed on both the client and the server, since every player and the server share the same race rules. Its current build is 0.08, released under the Apache License 2.0; the code is not open source.

Key features

  1. Four selectable races

Players choose from human, siren, pyrael and voltis, each with its own set of traits and abilities.

  2. Water and land tradeoffs

Sirens move faster underwater and heal after damage, but deal less damage on land and are weakened by sprint speed.

  3. Stun and fire abilities

Voltis can stun enemies with Aftershock, and pyraels apply a fire effect that stacks with repeated hits.

  4. Goat horn weakening

Using a goat horn weakens entities nearby, giving a short window to close the distance.
