GD656MotionHUD

by Minecraft_GD656

GD656MotionHUD gives the Minecraft HUD a resistance effect: when the view turns, the HUD briefly shifts the other way before settling back into place.

ForgeClient-side onlyMIT License1.20.1

What it does

When a player turns the camera, the HUD lags behind for a moment and drifts in the opposite direction, then eases back to its normal position. The motion is meant to add weight and a sense of inertia to the interface, in the style of a Battlefield-like HUD, and the author describes the result as more dynamic and less rigid than the default layout.

The HUD animation is not capped at the vanilla 20 ticks, so the motion is smoother than the stock interface allows. Any modded HUD can be used alongside it. Settings live in an editable config file. The mod runs on the client only, so a vanilla server works without it, and it is released under the MIT License. The code is not open source.

Files exist for 1.20.1 on Forge. The latest file is 0.0.5-1.20.1-forge, published on 2026-07-14, and the mod was first published on 2026-01-11.

Key features

  1. Resistance effect on view turns

Turning the view makes the HUD move briefly in the opposite direction before it realigns smoothly.

  2. Smoother HUD animation

Animations run beyond the vanilla 20-tick limit, producing finer and steadier motion of the interface.

  3. Adjustable motion strength

The strength and behavior of the HUD motion can be changed, so the effect can be tuned to taste.

  4. Layered over other HUDs

The motion is applied on top of the interface a player already uses, so the effect works with those HUD designs.
