Friends&Foes brings back mobs that were voted out of Minecraft's mob vote, such as the Crab, Copper Golem and Glare, along with new vanilla-like features for each one.
What it does
The mod adds mobs from the community mob vote that never reached the vanilla game, and extends their original concepts with new behavior and blocks. Each mob has its own habitat and interaction: crabs live in mangrove swamps and beaches, Glares in lush caves, Iceologers in snowy spruce forests. Friends&Foes is a client and server mod, so both the server and every player need it. It requires Resourceful Lib, and it can use YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) for configuration when that library is present. The code is under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial No Derivatives 4.0 license, so it is not open source. Files exist for Forge and NeoForge, with builds covering 1.18.2 – 26.3 and the latest files targeting 26.3 on NeoForge and 1.20.1 on Forge. Two other catalog mods, Friends&Foes - Beekeeper Hut and Friends&Foes - Flowery Mooblooms, depend on this mod.
Key features
Crab and reach potion
Crabs wander beaches and mangrove swamps, and a crab claw item can be crafted into a potion that extends the player's reach.
Copper Golem and workstation
The Copper Golem presses copper buttons and oxidizes over time, and a village structure called the Copper Golem Workstation spawns for it.
Tuff Golem
The Tuff Golem can hold and display items, wanders when it is awake, and stays in place when a honeycomb is applied.
Iceologer cabin
Iceologers live in a small spruce cabin in snowy regions and attack with icy spells when they spot the player.
Totem of Freezing
A Totem of Freezing item is added to the mod's item set, alongside copper variants of buttons and lightning rods.
