ForceBeaconLoadForForge

by moshang-ca

Players who build long-range beacon networks use ForceBeaconLoadForForge to keep distant beacons working while their chunks are unloaded, extending vanilla beacon range.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1 – 1.21.4

What it does

The server keeps a global list of beacons and sends it to clients at set intervals, so beacons outside the normal render distance still appear and act in the expected way. Vanilla beacon potion logic is replaced, and effects are reapplied according to distance, which gives a much longer range than the vanilla level-based reach of 50 plus 100 blocks.

Rendering is handled on the client, which stops Embeddium's default beacon drawing and draws beacons from the server-synchronized list instead. The render far plane is increased so distant beacon beams are not clipped. Blue Archive Halo has level-shrink rendering support through this mod.

Installation requires a Forge or NeoForge build matching the game version, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need the mod. Builds cover 1.20.1 – 1.21.4 on both loaders, and the code is released under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Unloaded-chunk beacons

Beacons keep working at long range even when their chunks are unloaded, using the server-side global list.

  2. Extended beacon range

Effect range is reapplied by distance, reaching well past the vanilla level-based limit.

  3. Server-synced beacon list

The server stores the list of beacons and synchronizes it to clients at specific intervals.

  4. Far-plane beam rendering

The render far plane is increased so distant beacon beams are not clipped on screen.

How it compares

Full comparison

Decorative Beacon is a Forge-only mod for 1.20.1, also client and server and released under the MIT License, but it changes how beacons look rather than how far they reach. Blue Archive Halo covers Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.18.2 – 26.2 and is client-side only under the MIT License, so only players install it. Better Beacon Effects is client-side only, released under Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike 4.0, and it works on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.20 – 26.3.
