Fleecifer

by dannytaylor

Fleecifer turns sheep hostile, so the wool-bearing mobs of a world start attacking the player on sight.

What it does

Sheep spawned by the mod attack players instead of grazing, which changes how early-game wool gathering and sheep farms work in a world. The change applies on the server and on every client that joins it, so both sides need the mod to keep the behaviour consistent.

Installation requires Fabric API on Fabric and NeoForge builds, and Quilted Fabric API (QFAPI) or Quilt Standard Libraries (QSL) on Quilt. Builds cover Forge, NeoForge, Fabric and Quilt, with files for c0.30_01c through 1.21.8 and a legacy build for b1.7.3. Source code and the issue tracker are public, and the mod is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, so it is open source. Snapshot builds are published as well.

The author notes that Fleecifer was tested alongside other mods that alter sheep behaviour, and that conflicts can occur under some circumstances. Server owners who run sheep-related mods should test the combination before deploying it to players.

Key features

  1. Hostile sheep

Sheep attack the player on sight, replacing the default passive grazing behaviour.

  2. Passive sheep replaced

Sheep that would normally graze and drop wool instead chase and strike the player.

  3. Wool gathering changed

Gathering wool from sheep becomes a fight, which changes how early farms are set up.

Use cases

Who it’s for: The mod suits survival players and server owners who want the sheep in a world to behave differently from vanilla. Players who only need passive sheep should leave it out.

Questions

Does Fleecifer need Fabric API?

Yes on Fabric and NeoForge builds, where Fabric API is required. On Quilt, Quilted Fabric API (QFAPI) or Quilt Standard Libraries (QSL) is required instead.

Does the server need Fleecifer, or only the players?

Every player and the server need a copy of the mod.

Which loader should be used with Fleecifer?

Quilt Loader is the loader the author recommends. Fabric Loader is supported, and Forge and NeoForge builds also exist.

Can Fleecifer be used with other sheep mods?

The author tested it with other mods that change sheep behaviour and reports that conflicts can occur under some circumstances, so testing the combination is advised.
