Fishing Pond

by datsuns

Fishing Pond lets a world define custom fishing items that award scores, and those scores are shared with everyone playing in the same world.

FabricNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.11

What it does

Custom fishing items can be added to the game, each with a score value that the mod calculates when a player catches it. Because scores are shared across the world, the catches of every player count toward one common total. Adding new fishing items requires creating a datapack and a resource pack, which define the items and how they look.

A dedicated companion tool called MC Fishing Pond Studio helps generate the additional items. It is distributed as a .exe file from the project's releases page, so it runs outside the game. The mod depends on Fabric API and Architectury API, and both must be installed alongside it. Fishing Pond runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is published for Fabric and NeoForge for 1.21.11, and its code is open source under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Custom fishing items

New items can be added to fishing, and each one carries a score that the mod calculates when it is caught.

  2. Shared world scores

Scores are kept for the whole world, so every player taking part adds to the same total.

  3. Item generation tool

MC Fishing Pond Studio, a separate program, generates the additional items that the mod uses.

  4. Datapack and resource pack setup

Items are defined through a datapack, and a resource pack supplies their appearance.

Questions

Does Fishing Pond need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is required on Fabric, and Architectury API is required as well, so both must be installed next to the mod.

Does the server need Fishing Pond?

Yes. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.

How are the new fishing items added?

Items are added by creating a datapack and a resource pack. The MC Fishing Pond Studio tool can generate the additional items.
