FirstAid

by ichttt

Players who take damage to a single limb use FirstAid, which replaces the single health bar with eight separate health regions.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.12.2 – 1.20.1

What it does

Instead of one health bar, FirstAid tracks eight regions, so the head, body, legs and feet each have their own health. The head and body regions are critical: the player dies as soon as either drops to zero. Vanilla health regeneration is disabled by default, and the setting can be changed in the config or with the naturalRegeneration game rule.

Healing uses bandages or plaster. Right-clicking one in the inventory opens a screen where the player picks the region to treat. Damage to a limb can apply debuffs, such as constant slowness after leg injuries or blindness and nausea after a heavy head hit. Morphine suppresses these debuffs while it is active, and they return when it wears off. Armor is also recalculated per region, so the armor on the legs counts only for hits to the legs, with a multiplier that offsets the lower value of helmets compared to chestplates.

FirstAid is published for Forge and NeoForge, for 1.20.1 with the latest file 1.20.1-1.1, and runs on client and server. It is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and is open source.

Key features

  1. Eight health regions

The single health bar is replaced by separate bars for the head, body, arms and legs, each with its own value.

  2. Region-targeted healing

Bandages and plaster are applied through a screen in the inventory that asks which region to treat.

  3. Limb debuffs

Injuries to specific limbs apply effects such as slowness, blindness or nausea for a limited time.

  4. Morphine suppression

Morphine blocks all of these debuffs while it is active, and the constant effects return once it ends.

  5. Regional armor

Armor counts only for the region that is hit, with a scaling factor that adjusts for helmet and chestplate values.

What the author says

The old health bar got replaced by 8 different health regions, so your Head, Body, Legs and Feet have their own health bar. Armor calculation has also been changed: If your legs get hit, only the armor of your legs will be taken into account. But because the armor value of a typical helmet is much lower than a…
