filament
by tomalbrc
With filament, server owners add custom items, blocks, decorations and mobs to a Fabric server by editing JSON files instead of writing code.
What it does
Content is defined in data-driven JSON. A server owner configures a block, item, decoration or armor piece, and the content becomes available in the game. The mod covers custom items with their own behaviors, such as cosmetics, items that run commands, and bows and crossbows. It also covers custom blocks, including trapdoors and budding blocks, and furniture and decorations whose placement and interactions can be configured.
Players connect without installing any mods. Content is delivered to them via a server-hosted texture pack, display entities placed in the world, and messages sent over the network, and Polymer can host that pack itself, so no third-party server is needed. Decorations and other features have a small effect on server performance because they are sent as packets. filament is a Fabric mod and is published for Minecraft 1.20.1 – 26.3, with snapshot builds also published. It depends on Polymer, and 21 other catalog mods require it, including several Toms Server Additions packs and Backported Shelves.
The mod is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later. Source code, an issue tracker and a wiki are public. The latest Fabric file is 1.8.5-hotfix.1+26.3 for 26.3, released on 2026-10-12. The mod was first published on 2024-01-03 and was last updated on the same date as the latest file.
