Fabis Chatfilter

by FabianKorte

Fabis Chatfilter sorts incoming Minecraft chat into custom tabs, each with its own rule set, so messages stop crowding the default chat.

FabricClient-side onlyCC0 1.0 Universal1.21.11

What it does

Each tab is built from rules that match messages by keyword, by the start of the text, by the sender's player name, or by a regular expression. Messages that match a tab's rules are kept in that tab's history, and the default chat keeps the rest. Filters can also select a message source such as a player, a private message or the server, so a tab can collect staff or private traffic on its own.

Notification counters on each tab show how many messages arrived since the tab was last opened. The tab bar can be navigated with a click to switch views, and a right-click drag moves it horizontally. Rules are edited tab by tab from the tab menu.

The mod runs on the client alone, so a player can use it on any server without the server installing anything. Files are published for Fabric only, for Minecraft 1.21.11, under the CC0 1.0 Universal license, which places the work in the public domain. The current file is 1.0.1, dated 2026-04-03, on the beta channel.

Key features

  1. Multiple chat tabs

Custom tabs each carry an individual rule set, and matching messages are routed to the tab that owns them.

  2. Four filter types

Rules can match specific keywords, messages that start with given text, a player's name, or a regular expression.

  3. Source filtering

A tab can be limited to messages from a chosen source, such as a player, a private message or the server.

  4. Unread indicators

Each tab shows a notification counter for messages that arrived while it was not open.

  5. Exportable profiles

Settings are stored as individual profile files in the Minecraft config folder, so they can be exported and restored.
