What it does

Extended Combat is a small Forge mod for 1.20.1 that adjusts the iron and diamond weapon tiers. Diamond weapons gain the highest attack speed and damage, while iron sits in the middle tier. Attacks against armored targets and shields deal extra damage, and a blocked attack can stop projectiles as well.

Its stat changes are simple: a 20 percent speed increase on certain weapons, a 5 percent speed decrease on others, one point less armor, and a larger reach. The sword sweep only hits targets within the normal three-block range. The mod was originally based on a video that suggested these changes, and its author describes it as a modern take on player versus player combat, with some texture updates and new side functionality.

Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. It is released under the MIT License; the source code and issue tracker are public. Files exist for Forge only, currently 0.0.3 for 1.20.1, published 2026-08-04 on the alpha channel.
