William Wythers' Expanded Ecosphere
Adding nearly 200 new biomes and overhauling every vanilla biome, William Wythers' Expanded Ecosphere is a realistic world generation mod by Cristelknight.
What it does
The mod adds new biomes built on the earlier WWOO and a separate WWOO project that focuses on reworking the vanilla biomes. Its biome set includes ancient forests, badlands variants, savannas, caves and many coastal and highland types, some of them taken from real-world regions.
Cristelknight marks the WWOO part as having good compatibility with other world generation mods, while the Expanded Ecosphere biomes are noted as less compatible. Large biomes are switched on through the forceLargeBiomes option in the WWOO config, since the author advises against the vanilla world presets. The overworld is not piglin safe by default; a datapack changes this so Hoglins do not mutate into Zoglins.
The server must run the mod, while players may leave it out, so the mod works when only the server has it. Installation needs Cristel Lib on every loader and Fabric API on Fabric. Cloth Config API is optional and enables a config menu. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with builds covering 1.18.2 – 1.21.3 and the latest file for 1.21.1.
Key features
Nearly 200 new biomes
The mod adds a large set of new biomes, including ancient forests, autumnal regions and deep underground zones.
Overhauled vanilla biomes
Existing vanilla biomes are reworked, so the familiar overworld terrain changes as well as the added regions.
Large biome option
A forceLargeBiomes setting in the WWOO config turns on larger biomes without relying on world presets.
Optional config menu
With Cloth Config API installed, the mod's settings can be changed in a menu instead of editing files by hand.
