Excavated Variants

by lukebemish

Excavated Variants generates stone variant ores in the world, so ore blocks appear in several stone types across existing terrain, as a world generation addition.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.18.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

Ore blocks are generated in a range of stone types, with new ore and stone combinations produced from the vanilla stones and ores. Mods that add their own stones and ores can be included through the default configs that cover several such additions. Because generation is data-driven, the set of stones and ores can be changed without writing code.

The mod needs Dynamic Asset Generator and Fabric API on Fabric and Quilt, and Dynamic Asset Generator on Forge and NeoForge. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Worlds that load slowly after installing it can be helped by enabling stronger asset and data caching. Its source code is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, and it is open source.

Key features

  1. Generated stone variant ores

Ore blocks are generated in several stone types, so variants of the same ore appear naturally in the world.

  2. Configs in the globalresources folder

Config files are loaded from the globalresources folder, and built-in configs can be extracted there to be edited.

  3. Four config data types

Configs define four main data types, and each one is placed under globalresources/[folder/pack]/globaldata/[namespace]/excavated variants/.

  4. Shared ground types

Generated ore and stone combinations share the ground type of the variant they came from unless a modifier changes it.
