Even Better Moon and Sun is a client-side utility that models a 29-day lunar cycle with eight named moon phases and a sun whose arc shifts through the year.
What it does
The mod replaces the vanilla moon with a realistic lunar cycle of 29 days and eight named phases, and tracks the current phase and its position in the cycle. Over a configurable in-game year, the sun's arc moves north and south to match Earth's axial tilt, so summer sun rides high and winter stays low. The shift is continuous across each tick rather than a sudden daily jump.
Active events include eclipses, blood moons, harvest moons, meteor shower nights and aurora borealis, each with a countdown to the next occurrence. A summary command reports the season, moon phase and days until upcoming events, and pressing F3 shows live astronomical information. Night skies carry up to eight shooting streaks across the sky as ambience, always on.
Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt builds cover 1.21.1 – 26.1.2, with files for 1.21.1, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1 and 26.1.2, and the four builds share the same feature set. The mod is client-side only, so a server does not need it, and it is released under the MIT License, though it is not open source.
